Link #16 - Freedom from SHAME!

Greetings in the name of Jesus.

Before we speak about this weekend (which is a big deal!) it is an important to remind everyone about the coming Christmas season. It is an important time of year for many reasons. There are several ways we serve the community this time of year including our biggest event of the year - the Christmas Day party. Along with our special events this is also an important season for us to be raising funds for our community services. The Salvation Army is fortunate to have support from the public this time of year as they give finantially. Last year was a very difficult year for our Christmas Campaign due to the COVID pandemic and it is important for Bloor Central we do our best to “re-boot” our fund raising. We are in desperate need of volunteers who can offer a 3 hour shift to stand at one of our Kettles either at Yonge and Bloor, Dufferin Mall, or Lobalws (Dupont and Christie). If you have some time you can offer to help over the next 4 weeks leading up to Christmas please contact Greg Peterson at 416-531-8031 (ex. 102) or email him at Greg.Peteron@salvationarmy.ca .

Each Saturday we look forward to serving our community meal on Saturday evenings. It is unfortunate we can’t invite people in as we normally would, but even serving a take away meal gives us opportunity to greet them and try to get caught up on how they are doing. This week we serve a maple dijon Chicken, rice, and salad so if you are around Bloor Central betweek 4-6pm it would be great to see you.

We will soon be getting into the avent season, but before we want to take some time to explore what the scripture says about “SHAME”. Shame has the power to cause enourmous suffering in our lives and it was never Gods intention that we’d live under its influence. In fact the Bible speaks clearly that we can live free from shame and we are going to be looking at this truth for the next two Sundays. We hope you can join us this Sunday for “Sunday Word” at 10am at Bloor Central. For those who have any health concerns related to COVID please know we still post the Bible teaching on our youtube station on Sundays as well. Whether you can join us on Sunday or not, know that God offers us life free from shame.

Look forward to seeing you this weekend.
